Getting ready to arrive and while you are here

Orientation

Please check back regularly as the Orientation Week timetables are currently only drafts and will be updated when required.

Orientation takes place in the week before classes start.  It is important that you attend this program as there are some important tasks for you to complete before your classes start. Orientation is organised by the International Student Advisers on each campus, with help from senior student volunteers

  • When you arrive you will be given an welcome pack by one of the drivers who meets you at the airport.  If you are making your own way to university please come to International Services to obtain your pack. In Hobart International Services is located in Building 40 on the Hobart campus map: in Launceston, International Services is located in Building Y on the Launceston campus map
  • When you attend Orientation you will be asked to complete a registration of arrival form.
  • You will receive your enrolment form and your health insurance card, and information on procedures and programs for Orientation Week.
  • The enrolment form needs to be completed and signed by the faculty and yourself.  It is recommended that you take the time to prepare for unit choices by consulting the webpage for the course you are studying so you are aware of the range of units available to you.
  • After the enrolment form is completed Student Administration must data entry your enrolment and you can obtain your student ID card about 2 - 3 days later.
  • Each faculty in the university runs its own individual orientation session during Orientation Week. You will need to attend this session to obtain information specific to that faculty.
  • Arriving in time for Orientation Week allows you to attend campus and city tours so you become more confident about finding your way around. It is also a way to meet both new students and senior students and to make new friends.
