Chilean Bicentennial Fund Scholarships

In July 2008, Universities Australia and the Government of the Republic of Chile established the “Chile-Australia Agreement on Human Capital Development”.  The agreement supports up to 500 fully funded Chilean PhD and Masters students each year to study in Australian universities over the next five to ten years.

The University of Tasmania is pleased to be part of this project and places are available in a variety of disciplines for Chilean students who are awarded a postgraduate research scholarship from the Commission Nacional de Investigación Cientifica y Tecnológica.

Under the agreement, the following programs are available:

Programs Duration

  • PhD Programs Up to Four (4) years
  • Masters by Research Programs Two (2) years

Places are also available for scholarship recipients to undertake postgraduate coursework programs

Priority fields of study for the Bicentennial Fund Scholarship scheme which include, but are not limited to:

  • Mining
  • Agriculture and Food Industry
  • Aquaculture and Fishing
  • Tourism and Hospitality
  • Biotechnology
  • Information and Communication Technologies
  • Energy
  • Environmental Issues
  • Health
  • Education
  • Housing and Public Security

Value: The Scholarship provides living expenses while studying in Australia, full tuition fees, return economy air travel, health insurance for the duration of the program, and English language proficiency training before the commencement of the program (when required).
