International Office Scholarships
Tasmanian International Scholarship (TIS)
- 25% off the registered tuition fees for the entire course, including an honours year
- Available to all undergraduate degrees (except Medicine, and Psychology) and to Foundation Studies and postgraduate coursework programs
- Applicants can apply for start of year or mid year intakes
- Awarded on academic achievements in secondary, diploma or degree level courses
To Apply - All applicants who complete an International Application Form to study at UTAS are assessed for a scholarship and are notified in writing if they have been successful.
Tasmanian International Scholarship for Sisters and Brothers
- 10% fee reduction for second student in family
- Open to all undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students
For students who previously had or currently have a brother or sister studying at UTAS will receive a 10% reduction in fees for their study program.
(If a student has already been offered one of the Tasmanian International Scholarships (TIS) this will not apply)
To Apply - Students must ensure they have answered the question on the International Student Application Form regarding brothers and sisters enrolled at UTAS. You will be contacted by International Services to complete the relevant documentation.
Tasmanian International Scholarship for Second course
10% fee reduction for a postgraduate coursework degree after completion of Bachelor's degree at the University of Tasmania (undergraduate degree may have been completed at a UTAS campus in Australia or offshore). (If a student has already been offered one of the Tasmanian International Scholarships (TIS) this will not apply)
10% fee reduction for degree program after completion of Foundation Program at University of Tasmania.

- UTAS graduates, including those who have graduated from a UTAS TNE program, who are not eligible for a TIS are eligible for a 10% International Postgraduate Scholarship.
- 10% Postgraduate Scholarships are only available for UTAS graduates who have completed an undergraduate degree with UTAS and have applied for a postgraduate coursework degree.
- UTAS graduates of a postgraduate coursework program applying for another postgraduate coursework degree are not eligible for the 10% Postgraduate Scholarship.

UTAS Scholarships
Tasmania Scholarships for commencing students
International students who have completed Years 11 and 12 in Australia and who have a tertiary entrance score can apply for a scholarship and will be considered alongside other applicants. The value of the scholarship will be deducted from the international fees.

- For postgraduate research students for study in Masters or PhD

Thomas Crawford Memorial Scholarship
Not Available in 2010
- For postgraduate research students from nominated countries

Faculty of Education Half-Fee Scholarship
- For studies in a Faculty of Education research higher degree program (Master Education Research, PhD)
- Reduction on tuition fees payable
- Available for new applicants and continuing candidates

Menzies Research Institute Postgraduate Research Scholarship
- For postgraduate research in epidemiology and population health
- Closing date October

Australian Council for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR)
- For postgraduate research in agriculture for students from nominated countries
- Priority themes: meeting rising demand for animal protein, improving the productivity and efficiency of food crop and forestry systems, better environments from better agriculture, linking farmers to markets
- Students apply to ACIAR for John Allwright Fellowship
- Applications close in March and August each year
Chilean Bicentennial Fund Scholarships
In July 2008, Universities Australia and the Government of the Republic of Chile established the “Chile-Australia Agreement on Human Capital Development”. The agreement supports up to 500 fully funded Chilean PhD and Masters students each year to study in Australian universities over the next five to ten years.

Endeavour Prime Minister's Asia Australia Awards
The Prime Minister’s Australia Asia Endeavour Awards will provide scholarships for the ‘best and brightest’ university students from Australia and our Asian neighbours. These scholarships will support a heightened relationship for future leaders which can be expected as their careers progress.
Endeavour Awards
The Endeavour Awards is the Australian Government’s internationally competitive, merit-based scholarship program providing opportunities for citizens of the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Europe and the Americas to undertake study, research and professional development in Australia. Awards are also available for Australians to do the same abroad.
Awards are open to all fields of study and industries, including the education sector. Awards available include:
- Endeavour Postgraduate Awards
- Endeavour Research Fellowships
- Endeavour Vocational Education and Training Awards
- Endeavour Executive Awards

Australian Development Scholarship (ADS)
- For students from nominated countries in Asia, Pacific and Africa regions
- For students in postgraduate research and coursework, and some undergraduate
- Priority areas education, health, natural resource management and governance
- Students apply to AusAID and nominate study at University of Tasmania
Australian Leadership Awards Scholarship (ALA)
- For postgraduate students with leadership potential from nominated countries
- Awards are open to all fields of study. Priority themes are international trade, pandemics, security, climate change including clean energy
- Students apply to University of Tasmania for Offer and then to AusAID for scholarship
- Applications close with AusAID in July
Exchange Scholarships
Crown Princess Mary Scholarship for Danish students on exchange to UTAS
International exchange students from partner Universities in Denmark (Aarhus University, University of Copenhagen and University of Southern Denmark) can apply for a Crown Princess Mary Scholarship. One scholarship will be awarded each year, and students should apply to their home University to be nominated.
Tasmanian students can apply for the Crown Princess Mary Scholarship to study on exchange at the University of Copenhagen. Apply to the UTAS Scholarships office.

- For undergraduate students from nominated countries for one or two semesters
- May include pre course English language
