Executive Assistant for the Member for Launceston Yeun Chieh Earic Gooi
Legislative Council

The decision to move from Penang in Malaysia to study at UTAS was relatively easy for Eric, because he knew by doing so he would be well positioned to reach his future career ambitions. Eric was attracted to UTAS by the fact that it is Australia’s fourth oldest university.

“Not only are the tuition fees so competitive, I knew that completing a Bachelor of Laws at UTAS would open up gateways to great employment opportunities, as the Faculty’s reputation is well established both within Australia and internationally”.

Eric is certain that the close knit culture within the Faculty of Law assisted him greatly in adjusting to life in a new city and country. He has made strong friendships and extensive networks with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.

“The warmth and friendliness of the Tasmanian people, coupled with the expert guidance from lecturers has really broadened my thinking perspective”.

Eric graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Laws, and has a position as the Executive Assistant for the Member for Launceston, Legislative Council.
