Master of Applied Science (Environmental Studies), current student
Vishal, from Rajkot, is currently studying the UTAS Master of Applied Science (Environmental Studies) having completed a Bachelor of Science (Biotechnology) in India.
“I chose UTAS because I wanted to move to a place where I could find the best environmental course in a suitable study environment and UTAS is the best place for this.
Tasmania attracted me more than other states with its low population, high standard of living and great environmental conditions.
UTAS is also one of the oldest universities in Australia so I knew it must be a university with great experience in educating and upgraded technology.
I decided to undertake my Masters as this was the next step in building my career. After I finish my Masters I will be able to go for my PhD straight away or directly enter the corporate world.
Highlights of my study at UTAS have been:
- International exposure with people and technology
- Best study environment
- Greatly resourced campus with wifi computer labs, high speed Internet connections, large libraries, access to all international journals, and highly skilled and expert staff
- Large, quiet campus in a great location
I like living in Tasmania because it is a naturally surrounded place with beautiful wilderness areas, has high standards of living, has many world heritage areas and has a cooler climate. Above all though, I love the Tasmanian people. They are great because they are the friendliest people I have ever met.
When I first started studying I wasn’t interested in working part-time but now I drive a cab part-time. Driving 2 days a week is enough to keep myself going on.
I would definitely recommend UTAS to anyone who is seriously considering further studies. It is the best university with a great environment around. Tasmania is one of the best places to live and UTAS is one of the best universities to study with.
Nothing in life is perfect but I still don’t see any negative points in UTAS – I am very happy with what I have today in Tasmania.”
