- Quotes from English Language Centre Students
PhD (Biomedical Engineering), Current Student
Sushil Patil commenced his PhD with UTAS in October 2005 after completing undergraduate studies at Mumbai University and postgraduate studies at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
“I chose to undertake my PhD with the University of Tasmania because it is a good university and I received a scholarship to conduct my research studies at the UTAS”.
I am still relatively new to UTAS but I find the study culture nice, the Department is equipped with all the necessary instruments for me to conduct my research, and the people within the university, including technical and academic staff, are supportive and helpful.
Hobart is a very peaceful place and I think that for a researcher this is an ideal place to be. The culture in Tasmania is very laid back and there is no pressure of any sort.
Tasmania is a natural beauty. There are many activities one can do outside of study – beaches, mountains and gardens can all be found here. The weather is good most times of the year and the pollution level is very low.”
Sushil’s topic of research, Image Processing and Artificial Intelligence, has high demand in the biomedical/biotechnology society.
