Master of Applied Science in Aquaculture (Research), Current student
Nafisa Priti Sanga commended her studies with UTAS in March 2005 after completing a related Masters degree in India.
“I chose UTAS as it has worldwide recognition for its research so it is a good choice for someone who is looking to pursue a career in research. The fee structure is also very reasonable compared with mainland Australian universities. Also, UTAS provides a friendly work environment and is multi-cultural.
I am conducting research on “Phosphorus Nutrition of Atlantic Salmon” and have learned about fish nutrition, fish husbandry, nutrition lab techniques, and fish feed formulation and pelleting which are really good in terms of practical knowledge.
UTAS provides practical knowledge along with core studies which is really helpful. Gathering information is easy as the uni has its own library facility and access to research papers is really handy. The laboratory facilities at UTAS are also good.
Tasmania is a very beautiful place to live and weatherwise it is also good. The people are helpful, there are students from all over the world and most of all, the living expenses are less than those in the mainland states.
I would recommend UTAS to those interested in coursework or research studies. Many of the coursework programs provide one year of research experience which is then a good start to a career in research”.
