Our Students - Frederik Dagsberg

Exchange Student 2006, Sweden
Malmo University

Fredrik Dagsberg thought it would be fun to see how different university is in Australia, compared to his home country of Sweden. After finding that his university in Malmo has an exchange agreement with UTAS, Fredrik was on a plane to Tasmania!

Fredrik spent semester 1 and 2, 2006 in the School of Architecture, Launceston. When asked what the highlights of his exchange and studying at UTAS were, Fredrik doesn’t know where to start.

“There are so many things. One of the best things is all the new people you meet and I’ve made some really good friends here that I’ll try and keep in touch with for the rest of my life. Same with some of the staff. I’ve enjoyed almost everything. A great uni with really friendly staff. Getting to study all my subjects in English has been a really good way to become better and more confident with the language”.

Fredrik definitely recommends a student exchange to a country where you can study in a different language.

“I’ll definitely not be afraid of trying something new in another language. I think it is a good way to show your employer that you are not afraid to take a big step like this. It was a big step for me because I had to fly across the globe and didn’t know anyone in Tassie. It also shows that you are capable of having a conversation in English”.

“This has been one of the best things I’ve done in my life. I’ll never regret it. I’ll definitely recommend UTAS to other students at my uni because the way I’ve been treated is nothing other than superb”.
