Bachelor of Teaching (Honours), Graduate 2006
Primary Teacher, Melbourne
After completing a Bachelor of Arts (Music Education) in her home province of JiangXi, P.R. China, a friend of Fang’s recommended UTAS as the perfect institution for her to complete her teaching studies.
Fang has since graduated with a Bachelor Teaching (Honours) in 2006, and is now putting her teaching skills to good use working as a primary teacher in Melbourne.
“I have learnt lots of new teaching strategies and methodologies in UTAS, which I have never learnt in China. In addition, school experiences gave me an opportunity to practice those teaching techniques, so that I could gain confidence and experience for my teaching career”.
Being one of the oldest universities in Australia initially attracted Fang to UTAS, and she quickly found out about the supportive environment for study.
“Due to the differences of teaching methods and environment from China, it was a challenge for me to undertake the teaching course at the beginning. However, all of the UTAS staff were friendly and very supportive. My lecturers helped me with my study, students centre helped me with releasing pressure and time management. As the time flew, I gradually got used to the Australian teaching methods and the new environment in a very short time”.
“To me, Tasmania has the most beautiful environment and lovely weather. Although the weather was very changeable, the temperature through the year would stay between 5-28 degrees. There were lots of attractive places to be, such as Salamanca Market, Wineglass Bay, Port Author and so on. There were always fresh fruits and food items. People were so friendly and I extremely enjoyed talking with ‘Tassie’ people”.
And a parting message from Fang:
“I would like to present my appreciation to those who have ever helped me while I was studying at UTAS for their support and their encouragement”.
