Campus Informtion
The other campus is in Launceston, the regional capital of the north of Tasmania. The University campus is on fifty hectares at Newnham, ten minutes from the city centre and overlooking the River Tamar. Around 5,000 students attend courses there.
Shops, Bars & Cafeterias
The Student Association provides and supports a number of services on campus:
The UniShop
The UniShop sells food - snack food, drinks, ice creams and confectionery. It also sells clothing, souvenirs, cards, gifts, stamps, films and hires CDs.
The
UniBar
Easy venue for winding down during or after a hard day at uni. Social activities include pool table with regular competitions, football tipping, Wednesday band nights, a great log fire and cheerful company.
The Bistro
The bistro is a casual indoor/outdoor eatery with a great menu and the place to go for a cappuccino on campus. The Bistro is open from 10 am until late and you are bound to find something a bit different to eat in or take with you.
The Caf
Cafeteria style eating, with large range of sandwiches, hot dishes and snacks. Eat in or take away. The Caf also is the venue for some really big pub nights, a part of social life here on campus. An internet café lets you catch up with you emails between lectures while having a coffee.
Degrees Restaurant
Degrees is an elegant licensed restaurant in a peaceful setting with river views, open for morning tea and lunch, Monday till Friday.
University Bookshop
Textbooks and stationery required
for University courses can be purchased at the University Bookshop. A
10% discount is given to students on the purchase of prescribed textbooks.
The book shop also stocks general books, magazines, art material, newspapers,
cards, diskettes and calculators.

The Sport & Recreation Centre
The Sport & Recreation Centre is able to offer all students the opportunity
to participate in a multitude of activities and programs: competitive
sport, social competitions, a weight room, and aerobics, yoga, pilates,
kick boxing and other fitness classes.
Keeping fit and healthy is just as important for your well being as your academic results. It is also a great way to meet people, to have fun and relieve stress. Sweat it out in the fully equipped fitness and weight training centre.
Join in the following activities in the multi-purpose sports hall : basketball, netball, volleyball, badminton, indoor soccer. There are also squash courts, 5 tennis courts and equipment hire for almost any sport.
Other Facilities
In addition there is a bookshop selling new and second hand books, a travel agent, Commonwealth Bank agency and a hair salon.
