Scholarships for 2009/2010 Outgoing Exchange

UMAP (University Mobility in the Asia Pacific)

UTAS has been awarded 4 x $5000 scholarships from the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR). The scholarships are for 1 semester and the exchange must be completed by October 2010.

  • City University of Hong Kong – 1 scholarship remaining
  • Daegu University, Korea – 2 scholarships available

Deadline for applications for Semester 1, 2010 is on 1 August.

UTAS Tasmania Scholarships:

There are two types of scholarships available:
  • International Travel
  • Overseas Student Exchange

The closing dates for these are October 31 and June 30 for the following semesters respectively. UTAS students must apply to participate as an exchange student with one of UTAS’ formal exchange partners to be eligible for to apply for an Overseas Student Exchange scholarship. Awarding of scholarships is based on merit and the quality of the exchange application.

An exchange student can receive more than one scholarship. That is, a UTAS student can apply for and be awarded a scholarship from their Faculty as well as the Overseas Student Exchange Scholarship. However, if a UTAS student receives a scholarship from their Faculty, the Overseas Student Exchange Scholarship amount awarded will be reduced.

OS-HELP

The Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) offers students loans at 20% interest added to HECS. Pamphlets and application forms are available at Student Administration.

Study at University of CopenhagenHaving Fun

The University of Copenhagen provides 2 awards to any Australian Exchange Partnership university. The award is valued at approximately $2,200 and intended to be a contribution towards living expenses. It is available to current undergraduate students studying in Humanities, Social Science or Economics.

In addition, there is a Crown Princess Mary Scholarship valued at $3000.

University of Lucerne, Switzerland, Faculty of Law

Stipends are available for UTAS students studying Law. The stipend will cover rent at the Seminary St. Beat for CHF 300 per month (excluding meals and living expenses other than rent unless provided by St. Beat).

Missouri State University, USA

Cost of accommodation is covered for 1 UTAS exchange student annually.

Klagenfurt University, Austria

Cost of accommodation (6 months) for UTAS students and a free 7 week intensive German course.
