Applications for 2010 Intake have now Closed!
Applications for 2011 intake will open on the 1 January 2010.
Information for international students interested in applying for the University of Tasmania MBBS degree commencing in February, 2010.
1. Prerequisite subjects:
- Chemistry at Australian Year 12 level (or equivalent): A grade or equivalent
- Mathematics and Physics at Australian Year 12 Level (or equivalent) are not pre-requisite subjects but are highly desirable
2. Minimum entry requirements:
- Australian Yr 12 TER: 95
- QLD OP: 4
- MUFY: 95% (Average best 4)
- Trinity FY: 95% (Average best 4)
- UNSWFP: GPA 9.5
- WAUFP: CPS 75
- IB: 35 (including bonus points)
- GCE A Levels: AAA
- STPM: AAA
- UEC/MICSS: A1 average
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (2003 onwards): 89
- Indian CBSE/CICSE/All India State Board: 95%
- Korean IKHCC: 3.7
- Sri Lankan SLGCE: 13 (Aggregate of best 3 at the higher level)
- South African Snr Cert: 32 (Aggregate of 6 subjects at higher grade)
- Thai Mattayom 6: 3.7
Aggregates and averages of grades will include prerequisite subjects.
Meeting minimum academic entry requirements does not guarantee entry into the program.
3. English Language Requirements
- 7.0 (no band less than 7.0), within the last 24 months; or
- Evidence that a minimum of 2 years full-time study with English as the sole medium of instruction and examination have been completed within the last 24 months.
4. UTAS does require applicants to have an ISAT score to be considered for entry.
ISAT scores must be received by 31st August 2009 for the application to be considered for 2010 entry.
There is no set minimum score required for ISAT. Test results will be used in combination with academic results to determine applicants' eligibility and ranking within applications received.
5. UTAS does not require applicants to sit an exam or interview. Assessments are based on academic results in conjunction with ISAT results and are conducted by staff of International Admissions and the School of Medicine.
6. All applications for 2010 intake must be received by the 31st August 2009.
7. No Offers will be made until September 2009.
8. The duration for the Bachelor of Medicine - Bachelor of Surgery program at the University of Tasmania is 5 years.
9. The University of Tasmania does not offer any scholarships for the MBBS program.
10. Applications for the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree for 2010 attract a $110 application fee. The application fee must be sent with the application form at the time of applying in order for International Services to accept and commence assessment of your application. The application fee is payable by credit card only and is non-refundable.
Please note payment of application fee does not guarantee a place in the Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery program.
Please note: The University of Tasmania can not process an application fee payment that is paid by cheque or bank draft.
