Information for international students interested in applying for the University of Tasmania's Bachelor of Pharmacy degree commencing in February, 2013.
Prerequisite subjects
- Chemistry at Australian Year 12 level (or equivalent):
A grade or equivalent
- Mathematics at Australian Year 12 level (or equivalent):
A grade or equivalent - Biology at Australian Year 12 Level (or equivalent) is not a pre-requisite subject but is highly recommended
Minimum entry requirements
- Australian Yr 12 ATAR/TER: 90
- QLD OP: 6
- UTAS FSP: 8.2
- MUFY: 90% (Average best 4)
- Trinity FY: 90% (Average best 4)
- UNSWFP: GPA 9.0
- WAUFP: CPS 70
- IB: 33 (including bonus points)
- GCE A Levels: AAB
- STPM: AAB
- UEC/MICSS: A2+ average
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (2003 onwards): 80
- Indian CBSE/CICSE/All India State Board: 90%
- Korean IKHCC: 3.5
- Sri Lankan SLGCE: 10 (Aggregate of best 3 at the higher level)
- South African Snr Cert: 28 (Aggregate of 6 subjects at higher grade)
- Thai Mattayom 6: 3.4
Aggregates and averages of grades will include prerequisite subjects.
Meeting minimum academic entry requirements does not guarantee entry into the program.
English Language Requirements
- IELTS (Academic) Overall 6.5 (no band less than 6.0), within the last 24 months; or
- TOEFL (PBT) 600 TWE 4.5 within the last 24 months; or
- TOEFL (iBT) 92 (no score below 20) within the last 24 months; or
- PTE Academic 58 with no score lower than 50 within the last 24 months; or
- Evidence that a minimum of 2 years full-time study with English as the sole medium of instruction and examination have been completed within the last 24 months.
Other Requirements
- UTAS does not require applicants to sit an exam or interview. Assessments are based on academic results and are conducted by staff of International Admissions and the School of Pharmacy.
Application and Offer Deadlines
- All applications for 2013 intake must be received by the 30th September 2012.
- No offers will be made until October 2012.
Scholarships
The University of Tasmania does not offer any scholarships for the Bachelor of Pharmacy program.
Application Fee
Applications for the Bachelor of Pharmacy degree for 2013 attract a non-refundable $110 application fee (including GST).
- Submit your application for the Bachelor of Pharmacy.
- International Admissions will notify you by email of your UTAS Student ID number with instructions on where to proceed to make this payment.
- Complete and return the Application Fee Payment Form to confirm payment.
Important note: Please note payment of application fee does not guarantee a place in the Bachelor of Pharmacy program.
Important note: The University of Tasmania can not process an application fee payment that is paid by cheque or bank draft.

AHPRA English language requirements for graduates of Pharmacy
The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) has recently announced that it is mandatory for all graduates seeking registration with the relevant National Board to demonstrate that they have achieved an overall IELTS score of 7.0. Those seeking registration as a Pharmacist should note that the overall IELTS score required for registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia is 7.5. Please note that only Academic IELTS scores will be accepted and test results will generally need to have been obtained within the two years preceding the application for registration.
