The Human Interface Technology Laboratory (HIT) Lab AU is unique to Australia and one of only three similar centres in the world. It is a teaching and research centre partnered by the foundation HIT Lab US at the University of Washington in the United States and the HIT Lab NZ at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. Cutting-edge technologies enable users to create new virtual sensory experiences providing exciting opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate students to undertake creative study units that solve real world problems.

Students will have access to two teaching facilities with cutting-edge technology:
- VisionSpace: a three-screen immersive stereo projection system enabling groups of people to view and interact intuitively with virtual 3D objects
- Access Grid: a high-end, collaborative communication facility that includes a high definition videoconferencing facility
