Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada

Thompson Rivers University (TRU) is located in the heart of the western Canadian mountains in the city of Kamloops – a city of approximately 90,000 people that is a tourism, transportation, and sporting centre for the region.  Kamloops, a spectacular four hour drive from Vancouver, is a safe and welcoming community for international students.

The university has approximately 10,000 students on campus, including almost 1500 international students from more than 75 different countries.  TRU prides itself on being a “globally minded campus” that nurtures intercultural skills in all its students and staff.

TRU is located near the heart of the city on a mountainside overlooking the river valley below.  The campus is considered one of the most beautiful in Canada – modern, beautifully landscaped, with stunning views of the surrounding area.  TRU is connected to all the major city bus routes, allowing students easy access to the city and nearby shopping.

TRU has three student housing options:  TRU Residence, On Campus Housing, and Upper College Heights.  Housing assistance is provided to UTAS exchange students once they have been admitted to TRU.

As well, TRU is well known for its extraordinary international department – known as TRU World.  Support for exchange students is provided by TRU World and includes a Study Abroad Office, International Admissions, International Academic Advising, an International Student Activity Program, and assigned International Student Advisors.  Once an exchange student application is accepted, students are connected to this network of support, service and advice.

On behalf of TRU, I look forward to welcoming exchange students from UTAS to our beautiful campus.
