SECTION LINKS
DEAP (Direct Entry Academic Program) is an alternative language pathway for international students into undergraduate or postgraduate degree programs at UTAS (excluding MBBS). On successful completion of DEAP, students with the required academic record, may enter their UTAS undergraduate or postgraduate course directly – without any further IELTS testing.
DEAP is offered as a 10 or 15 week course and provides excellent language, research and study skills in preparation for coursework or research study at UTAS. Skills for University such as lecture note-taking, text summarising and paraphrasing will be taught.
Students are encouraged to learn independently and to work collaboratively on academic assignments. These assignments include academic essays and reports involving research, referencing and oral presentations.
Students must successfully meet the assessment criteria for the assessed tasks and have satisfactory attendance to pass DEAP. Students who do not meet these requirements may be recommended to take an IELTS test.
DEAP Course Entry Requirements
Intending students must submit the required IELTS (Academic module) or TOEFL documentation before being accepted into the DEAP course. The tests must have been taken within the last 2 years.
