CELTA - Pre-requisites and Selection Process

Pre-requisites
CELTA candidates are required to:
- have reached a standard of education equivalent to university entry level
- be at least 20 years of age (- but candidates aged between 18 and 20 may be accepted at the centre’s discretion)
- have a high level of competence in English, both written and spoken, that enables them to follow the course and complete all the assessed components successfully
Selection process
Candidates are also required to:
- complete a written application form and some pre-interview language awareness exercises
- attend an interview (- phone interviews at the candidate’s expense are usually possible for applicants outside Tasmania)
- complete two short at-interview tasks that involve writing on a given topic, and correcting punctuation and spelling
- sign the Conditions of Enrolment
Candidates will be informed as soon as possible after the interview whether their application has been successful or not.
