Information for New ELC Students - Airport Reception
SECTION LINKS
The ELC provides a free airport reception service for students arriving to commence their studies at UTAS. When a student arrives with family members or friends, the use of the free pick-up service for the additional members of the group may not be available. This will depend on the availability of space in the vehicle. We cannot confirm pickup for additional group members prior to arrival, so please ensure your group is carrying Australian dollars for taxi or bus fares from the airport to their destination.
Students will be met and welcomed to Tasmania by a trained representative of the ELC. They will assist with luggage collection, and then drive students in a University vehicle to their booked accommodation. They will be able to answer questions about living in Tasmania and will help if you need some supplies from the supermarket.
To book this service, please complete the appropriate arrival form below and return it to us as soon as travel arrangements have been finalised.
The arrival form must be sent to us with a minimum 48 hours' notice of a weekday arrival and 72 hours' notice for a weekend arrival, or airport pickup cannot be guaranteed.
If accommodation has not been arranged, students will be taken to temporary accommodation. Temporary accommodation is usually a hostel or backpackers.
Students arriving Monday to Friday between 9am - 4pm will be driven to the English Language Centre and introduced to the Student Adviser. If students arrive after hours or on the weekend, they must come to the English Language Centre at 9am on the Friday before the course commences for orientation.
