Graduates of the Graduate Diploma of Medical Laboratory Sciences will be eligible to sit the examination for membership of the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists (AIMS), once they have completed the relevant work experience.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Australian Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Medical Science, Health Science, Science, or another related discipline (or equivalent).*
*As per NOOSR guidelines.
English Language Requirements
- IELTS (Academic) Overall 6.0 (no band less than 6.0), within the last 24 months; or
- TOEFL (PBT) 575 TWE 4.5, within the last 24 months; or
- TOEFL (iBT) 88 (no score below 20), within the last 24 months; or
- PTE Academic 50 with no score lower than 50, within the last 24 months; or
- Evidence that a minimum of 2 years full-time study with English as the sole medium of instruction and examination have been completed within the last 24 months.
Other Requirements
UTAS does not require applicants to sit an exam or interview. Assessments are based on academic results and are conducted by staff of International Admissions and the School of Human Life Sciences.
Duration of Course
The standard duration of the Graduate Diploma of Medical Laboratory Sciences degree at the University of Tasmania is 1.5 years. Some students who have a relevant background may be able to complete the program in 12 months with Faculty approval.
Scholarship
- All applications for the Graduate Diploma of Medical Laboratory Sciences are assessed for Tasmanian International Scholarship (TIS) eligibility.
- No separate application procedure for scholarship assessment is required.
- Recipients of TIS will be notified when they receive their offer providing the necessary supporting documents have been provided with their original application.
