Entry Requirements and Qualifications

Entry Requirements

English Language Proficiency

Applicants whose previous study has not been in English are required to demonstrate their ability by showing results of an approved test.

  • IELTS - minimum overall band 5.5 with no score below 5.0
  • TOEFL (PBT) - 527 with TWE of 4
  • TOEFL (iBT) - 60 with no score less than 17
  • PTE Academic 43 with no score lower than 36
  • A Level Results
  • GCE '0' level English - C6
  • India -CBSE/CISCE English - B
  • Malaysia - SPM 1119 B3, UEC SM 2 Level English B3
  • Successful completion of secondary studies in Singapore
  • Matriculation (TER) English as a Second Language - good pass

All Methods of meeting UTAS English Language Entry Requirements have a validity of 2 Years.

Foundation Access

For students with an IELTS score of 5.0 (or equivalent) the Foundation Access pathway provides 10 weeks of English study prior to the start of the Foundation Studies program. Students who successfully complete 10 weeks of English are able to have direct entry to Foundation Studies without having to complete another IELTS test.

Students with an IELTS score of LESS THAN 5.0 (or equivalent) in one or more bands, who do not currently meet the requirements for entry to the UTAS Foundation Program, are encouraged to enrol at the UTAS English Language Centre.
